Storm Damage Roof Repairs Sydney

Sydney storms do three kinds of damage to roofs: impact damage from hail and falling branches, uplift damage where wind gets under sheeting or capping, and water damage from the volume of rain that arrives in a short window. A single storm often produces all three.

We handle both stages — securing the roof so it stops taking water, then carrying out the permanent repair once the extent of the damage is clear.

Typical storm damage we repair

  • Hail-cracked and shattered concrete or terracotta tiles
  • Ridge capping cracked or lifted by wind, and mortar washed out
  • Metal sheets lifted, buckled or peeled back at the ridge or edges
  • Impact damage and punctures from fallen gum limbs and branches
  • Torn or dislodged flashings and whirlybirds
  • Gutters overflowing or torn away from the fascia by debris and water weight
  • Water damage to sarking, insulation, ceilings and cornices

Make-safe first

The immediate priority is stopping further water entry: temporary tarping over broken sections, clearing valleys and gutters so water can leave the roof, and removing debris that is holding water against the tiles.

Make-safe is a holding measure, not a repair. We are clear about what is temporary and what is permanent, and we will not leave a tarp in place as a substitute for fixing the roof.

Documentation for your insurer

Insurers generally want to see the damage, the cause and the scope of repair. We photograph the damaged areas before and after work, describe what failed in plain language, and provide an itemised written quote you can submit.

We do not lodge or manage claims on your behalf, and we do not guarantee any particular outcome from your insurer — that is between you and your policy.

Why storm damage should not wait

A roof that has lost a few tiles is exposed to the next system, and Sydney rarely gets just one. Wet insulation loses its R-value, plasterboard sags, and timber that stays damp for weeks starts to break down. The repair bill grows faster than most people expect.

Questions

Storm Damage Roof Repairs Sydney — FAQs

Do you tarp roofs after a storm?
Yes, where it can be done safely. Tarping in high wind or on a steep wet roof is dangerous and sometimes has to wait for conditions to ease.
Will you talk to my insurance company?
We provide clear photos, a written scope and an itemised quote that you or your assessor can use. We do not act as your claims representative.
How can I tell if hail damaged my tiles?
From the ground you usually cannot. Hail cracks often show as fine star fractures or fresh chips on the exposed face of tiles, visible only up close, and leaks may not appear for weeks.
