Where new installations go wrong
- Pitch too low for the chosen material, so water backs up under laps
- Poor detailing where a new roof abuts an existing wall or older roof
- Missing or badly lapped sarking, causing condensation problems in the roof space
- Gutters and downpipes sized for the old catchment, not the new one
- Battens spaced to the wrong gauge for the tile or sheet profile
- No provision for roof space ventilation in a sealed new addition
